Why maintenance matters
An espresso machine builds up mineral scale and coffee oils over time. A few minutes of regular care keeps your coffee tasting great and adds years to the machine's life.
Weekly
- Remove the brew group from the side door and rinse it under lukewarm water, no soap. Let it air-dry before putting it back — this is what stops grounds and mold building up.
- Rinse the LatteGo milk system after every use; once a week, take it apart and run all the parts through the dishwasher.
- Clean the water tank with warm water and a little mild detergent, then rinse well.
Every few days
- Empty and wash the drip tray and grounds container with warm water. Don't wait for the tray-full indicator — damp grounds mold quickly.
Every month
- Run the brew group cleaning cycle with a coffee oil remover tablet to dissolve oily residue the rinse alone misses.
Every 2 months
- Apply a thin layer of food-grade grease to the brew group's side rails and shaft.
Every 3 months
- Swap the AquaClean filter when the machine asks. With the filter in regular use, you rarely need to descale separately.
When to call a professional
If the machine won't power on, leaks internally, or you smell burning, stop using it and contact an authorized repair technician rather than opening it yourself.
